Concord’s engineering and construction management services, along with a specialization in power plant and district energy projects, enabled us to be part of the new Combined Cooling, Heat and Power plant at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, NJ.  This $34 million design/build project will eliminate 18.1 million pounds of annual carbon emissions and is about 73 percent efficient vs. only 35 percent with a traditional power plant.  The New Jersey Hospital Association applauds this plant as a model for hospitals seeking to improve energy efficiency.
As a leader in energy efficiency and utility systems for institutional clients, Concord also brings its experience in alternative financing and incentives to the table.  Unfortunately, there are many hospitals that are capital-constrained and unable to afford even high-return efficiency investments, let alone basic capital improvements.  It is these entities, who lack their own capital equipment budget, that particularly need outside financing.

Probably the most successful energy efficiency program in New Jersey is PSE&G’s Carbon Abatement program, which has provided funding to some New Jersey hospitals for purposes of reducing energy consumption.  This program is successful, in part, because of the overwhelming need and the program’s design, which combines a grant and zero-interest loan to implement the energy efficiency projects.  Concord Engineering performs Investment Grade Audits, detailed Design/Engineering, Construction Management, and Commissioning for these projects at eligible hospitals in the PSE&G service territory.
