COMBINED HEAT & POWER PLANT

Trinitas Regional Medical Center retained Concord Engineering to develop Design-Build documents for the installation of a new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant in an urban setting in Elizabeth, NJ.

The CHP will provide attractive economic benefits as well as reinforce the existing central utilities plant with new thermal equipment. The electrical generator will also increase site resiliency by enabling operation of extensive hospital services through a new microgrid during utility power outages. The project is funded through the New Jersey Energy Resiliency Bank and is projected to save the Hospital $800,000 in energy cost annually and reduces their carbon footprint by 3,225 tons.
